The aspects, or angles, represent the quality of interaction between the
planets in a person's natal chart. These various interactions shed a great
deal of light on the internal dynamics of one's personality. The aspects
are noted in terms of degrees. There are five major aspects which are
detailed as follows. Each major aspect is allowed an orb of eight degrees
to exist.
The Conjunction - 0° (0° - 8°): Occurs when two planets are within eight
degrees of one another and indicates a concentration of energy in the natal
natal chart. Whether the concentration is harmonious, or otherwise depends on
the individual natures of the planets involved and the aspects
the planets make to their counterparts elsewhere in the natal chart. The
power of the conjunction can be used to overcome major obstacles and
create positive life changes.
The Sextile - 60° (54° - 66°): Occurs when two planets are within 60
degrees of one another. Indicates opportunities for new development,
or further development of already existing beneficial situations
The Square - 90° (82° - 98°): Occurs when two planets are within 90
degrees of one another. Indicates areas of dynamic tension in the personality.
Conflicting facets of the personality are in struggle against one
another. Squares can be beneficial to have in a chart as they pose the
individual with challenges that can provoke action and positive growth if
addressed attentively. Without adversity, we cannot grow.
The Trine - 120° (112° - 128°): Occurs when two planets are within 120
degrees of one another. Represents areas of life in which things flow
relatively easily with little or no effort at all; Areas of the personality which
work very well together. Can indicate talents. Can also be used to help
produce solutions for areas of life that are in conflict. An abundance of
these in a chart is not necessarily good, however, as too many can be a
signal of laziness and carelessness.
The Opposition - 180° (172° - 188°): Occurs when two planets are within
180 degrees of one another. The planets literally lie on opposite sides of
the chart. The opposition signifies areas of life that are contrary to one
another and need to be balanced. Each pole compliments the other. It is
up to the individual to make the shift in perception and recognize this
truth so that the energy of the opposition is not experienced in an adverse
manner. Balance is the key word here.

The transits refer to the movement of the planetary bodies relative to their
natal positions in an individual's chart. For example, Pluto is currently
moving through the sign Sagittarius. As a result, if you were born with your
Sun in Gemini, you either have, are, or will experience transiting Pluto
in opposition to your natal Sun, as Gemini and Sagittarius lie directly
across the zodiac from one another. This means that transiting Pluto is
forming an aspect to your natal Sun by anywhere from 172° to 188° - the
angle range for an opposition. This transit would be written as: Pluto
opposition Sun.
Metaphorically, the transits represent likely trends and/or tensions an
individual will experience over a particular range of time. The transits of
the outer planetary bodies (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto)
take longer to bear themselves out, as they have much wider orbits around
the Sun than do the inner planetary bodies (Mercury, Venus, and the
Moon). Significant trends over the span of time can be found in the action
of the outer planetary bodies as they take longer to travel their orbits. The
inner planetary bodies count, too, but are not nearly as significant by
transit; They count more in the interpretation of the natal chart, as do
the outer bodies.
The main types of transits are denoted by the following aspects:
Conjunction - 0° (0° - 8°)
Sextile - 60° (52° - 68°)
Square - 90° (82° - 98°)
Trine - 120° (112° - 128°)
Opposition - 180° (172° - 188°)
